Epilepsy and seizure support information

Epilepsy medical alert IDs

For people with epilepsy, a seizure can make it difficult or impossible to explain what happened, what support is needed or who should be contacted. A MyQRMed QR medical ID gives others a way to scan your bracelet, necklace, dog tag, watch band ID or ID kit and view the seizure information you choose to share — no app needed.

What your epilepsy QR profile can show

  • Epilepsy diagnosis or seizure type
  • Typical seizure pattern and recovery notes
  • Medication information you choose to share
  • Known triggers or warning signs
  • Rescue medication or seizure plan notes, if relevant
  • Communication or post-seizure support preferences
  • Emergency contacts, carers or treating team details

Why it matters

When seizure information needs to be understood quickly

After a seizure, a person may be confused, tired, non-verbal, distressed or unable to explain their usual recovery pattern. Someone nearby may not know whether the seizure is typical, who to call, what medication information is relevant or what support approach helps.

This page is for people who may need a simple way to carry seizure-related information, support notes and emergency contacts when they are at school, work, sport, appointments, transport or in the community.

How MyQRMed helps

A clearer handover after a seizure

A QR medical ID can give carers, staff, bystanders or responders a clearer starting point when the person cannot explain their needs. It can show selected seizure notes, medication information, support preferences and who to contact.

Unlike fixed engraving, the online profile can be updated when medications, seizure plans, contacts or support needs change. The person scanning does not need the MyQRMed app or a login to view the emergency profile.

Customer feedback

Got the necklace then the bracelet for my son who has epilepsy and autism. If something happens, someone can scan it and see his info and me as his emergency contact.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is a QR medical ID useful for epilepsy?

It may be useful where seizure type, medication information, recovery notes or emergency contacts need to be available if the person cannot explain them clearly.

Can I include a seizure plan?

Yes. You can add seizure plan notes, usual recovery information, support preferences and contact details. Keep the profile clear and update it when plans change.

Can family, school or support workers use the information?

Yes. Anyone can scan the QR code with a smartphone camera. The profile can help provide consistent information across family, school, work, support and community settings.

Does it replace emergency care?

No. In an emergency, call 000. MyQRMed helps display information you choose to share, but it does not replace emergency services, medical advice or clinical care.
