Medical Alert Bracelets for Rare Conditions
(QR Medical ID)

One scan shows diagnosis, key emergency risks, medications and specialist contacts—vital when responders may not recognise the condition.

Why a medical alert helps with rare diseases

Many rare conditions are unfamiliar to the public and even some clinicians. In an emergency, you don’t want precious minutes lost looking up acronyms. A medical alert bracelet or necklace signals there’s critical information available. With QR Medical ID, a scan shows your diagnosis, key risks, medications/devices, and specialist contacts, so responders can stabilise safely and reach the right people quickly.

What to include in your QR profile

Aim for a concise briefing a clinician can use immediately:

  • Diagnosis: full name (and common abbreviation) — e.g., Addison’s disease, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), Mast Cell Activation, POTS, rare bleeding disorder, mitochondrial disease, etc.

  • Key emergency risks: adrenal crisis risk; anaphylactoid reactions; dysautonomia (syncope); airway issues; bleeding hazards.

  • Medications & devices: steroids stress-dose rules; mast cell stabilisers; IV port; feeding tube; implanted devices and locations.

  • Known triggers/precautions: contrast dye, adhesive allergies, positioning, temperature.

  • Allergies: medications/foods/adhesives.

  • Specialist contacts: clinic name, specialist, hospital preference.

  • Other notes: communication, mobility, care preferences.

Choosing your ID

  • Medical alert bracelet: Most visible and durable; silicone or stainless depending on activity.

  • Medical alert necklace: Easy over clothing; comfortable alternative to wrist wear.

  • QR Medical ID Kit: Wallet card (for travel & appointments), stickers on equipment, fridge magnet at home.

Optional safety pairing: If fainting/falls or wandering are concerns, consider the SOS Alert Watch (Personal Alert Safety System) to alert contacts and share GPS location.
