For Older Australians: Medical Alert Bracelets and QR Medical ID
Older Australians, carers and providers use medical alert bracelets and necklaces with QR Medical ID to keep essential health details easy to find—conditions, medications, allergies and key contacts—at home, in the community, and during routine appointments. Profiles are editable anytime, so information stays current without re-engraving.
What can be funded through your Aged Care Package
Subject to your funding plan:

Medical alert bracelet
(QR Medical ID)
Recognised on the wrist or chest; one scan shows a full health profile—far more useful than engraving alone.

Medical alert necklace
(QR Medical ID)
Recognised on the wrist or chest; one scan shows a full health profile—far more useful than engraving alone

QR Medical ID Kit
(wallet card, magnet & stickers)
Wallet card, fridge magnet and stickers for phone, mobility aids, school bag or care folder—ideal backup when jewellery isn’t worn.

SOS Alert Watch (Personal Alert Safety System)
SOS button and falls detection to alert nominated contacts, share GPS location and enable two-way calling. (Not a call-centre service; alerts go to chosen contacts.)

Who it helps (typical aged-care use cases)
-
Living independently and wanting a clear way to share health information with clinicians and support workers.
-
Chronic Illnesses or multiple medical conditions where it is difficult to keep track and recall especially during an emergency or visiting a new doctor.
-
Memory changes or cognitive impairment (incl. younger-onset dementia) where identification and contact details must be easy to find.
-
Falls risk or blackouts where quick contact to family/carers is important (consider an SOS watch as a companion).
-
Multiple medications / multiple providers where keeping details current avoids confusion at appointments.
-
Hearing or vision changes where communication preferences (e.g., Auslan/interpreter, SMS first, large print) should be visible.
-
Mobility support where transfer guidance, equipment notes and practical tips help new staff provide consistent care.

What to include in a QR Medical ID profile
-
Conditions & key notes (brief, plain language)
-
Current medications & allergies (concise list; include anticoagulants if relevant)
-
Devices & precautions (e.g., pacemaker/ICD, swallowing/positioning, mobility aids)
-
Communication preferences (e.g., speak slowly, yes/no questions, Auslan + interpreter)
-
Primary contacts (carer/family/support coordinator) and treating GP/clinician
-
Home care instructions that reduce stress (routines, preferred hospital, entry notes)
Profiles are editable anytime; changes appear immediately when the QR is scanned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Home Care Packages fund medical alert bracelets with QR Medical ID?
Yes—providers often approve medical alert bracelets/necklaces and the QR Medical ID Kit when they support goals around communication, independence and safer care. An itemised quote is supplied for approval.

What if medications or contacts change frequently?
Profiles are editable anytime. Update the details, and the QR immediately shows the latest information—no re-engraving required.

Do clinicians and support workers need an app to view the profile?
No. Any smartphone camera scans the QR and opens the profile in a browser. This suits home visits, clinic appointments and community activities.

Is the jewellery suitable for daily wear?
Yes. Silicone is lightweight and shower-ready; stainless is durable and classic. See product pages for sizing and care.

Do I need a subscription with MyQRMed?
No. MyQRMed products have no subscriptions—it’s a one-time purchase.

Can an order include an SOS watch as well?
Where approved, orders can include an SOS Alert Watch with SOS, falls detection, GPS and two-way calling to nominated contacts. Many families pair a bracelet (medical information) with a watch (contact/alerts).
